Was thinking of heading to Petawawa next week with wife and kid. But instead of canoeing was contemplating taking a small raft. All I see are canoeists paddling down but was wondering if anyone ever runs it in raft with gear. Travers to McManus. Water level seems to be decent and it’s easier to drive (from states) with a raft over a canoe and more room for the 3 of us with camping gear.
    Thanks in advance..

It’s definitely doable. I’ve done similar raft trips on the lower Coulonge and have lots of experience on the Petawawa, but in canoes and kayaks. Water levels are still pretty high so rapids like Schooner and Five Mile would be a blast for everybody, but there are some LONG flat stretches that could be very tedious unless you get a solid tail wind.

Thanks so much for the info! Would the upper section be a better fit for rafting? Which is a prettier section for scenery and camping?
