If your ripping the face mask off on such a regular basis that you need to carry a screwdriver, you should probably have learned how to paddle a creek boat before buying such an elaborate helmet.
I find it rather ugly, and more gimmick than anything else.
For some reason no one wears mouthgards on the river. They help prevent concussions and broken teeth when you end up kissing your paddle shaft, will never snap off, flip in front of your eyes, or roll back over your forehead. They cost $15 and fit in your pfd pocket.
Nobody wants to be the guy wearing a mouthguard though…
