I went paddling on the Ottawa alone a few times last year on evening nights, parking on the Québec side at the Parc du Rocher Fendu and paddling up to Baby face face and Horse shoe, there was always a few young excellent paddlers doing their stuff there and that’s why I wen’t alone expecting people there.
I must admit, I agree here with POBO as far as attitudes…After saying a big friendly Hello to all these young paddlers all I got was smart ass faces, there was no conversation in the eddy, every one hoping that the paddler would miss and get off the wave as fast as possible.
I disliked this experience alot and will not go on my own anymore just for that. I rather be with friends and enjoy my wait time in the eddys laughing and talking, then being stuck with these hot heads in this cold environnement. Good thing I have a Bomb proof roll, the swim would have been a long one with that kind of entourage.
HAPPY PADDLING !
