Good point, but you can easily waste an hour or more waiting around for an opportunity to bum a ride, and personally I’d rather pay a few bucks and get home an hour earlier. The fellow in Griffith who used to do shuttles would drive up the logging road in his truck and load the boats at Buck’s Bay and drive to Aumond’s Bay so no time was wasted, and the charge was reasonable IMO.

Do you really think there will be that many people running the Lower Mad on Saturday morning. Most people who drive up Saturday morning won’t get to the campground until noon and those who drove up Friday evening will probably be recovering from the partying, at least until noon. I was hoping that it would be rather quiet if we got on the river well before noon.
