I have the precursor, the Optio WP (5mp).
It is indeed waterproof. i carry mine in my pfd pocket when playboating, no case necessary but Im not too fussy about taking care of my stuff. Some of the issues Ive had have been resolved in the WPi (which by the way has been replaced by the W10 so buyer beware….)
It is small, durable has few moving parts, super easy to use, but does have a bunch of settings to play with. Its fast turning on, is fast taking pics depending on the setting, has a cool “hi speed shooting mode” which takes like 4 or 5 frames per second, and the macro setting is wicked.
I broke the LCD screen (but Pentax shared the repair cost), sucks in low light, no lens cover worries me (but no probs so far), sucks in low light (really it does), i find the colour is kinda washed out sometimes but there may be a setting for that.
My general impression> Its pretty kick ass because I hate have cases of crap to carry with me, and using camera with wet fingers and all that jazz. Its never in the way, and does a reasonable job for the $$ paid and the abuse it goes through.
My favourite feature is doing head cams when surfing. Pretty fun stuff.
Email me and i can send you some sample shots.
