Got there yesterday at 5:15pm…

Was there with Neal from Waterloo, and dude Justin who showed up a bit later…

It was really sketchy getting onto the wave… Unfortunately, I was the only one who was able to get on, but I believe I’ve developed a bomber technique for getting on at +200. [b:20knb0dt]Here’s the Beta:[/b:20knb0dt]

You can’t get on from surfer’s left at that level… I don’t care who says you can, [b:20knb0dt]you cannot[/b:20knb0dt]. The water is basically full force downstream flow over the concrete on the surfers left side… 100% totally impossible. At 180-200, yes, it’s easy to get on from surfer’s left… Not at 200+…

From surfer’s right there’s a trick  Head straight for the concrete… When you’re basically surfing your bow on the small wave formed by the concrete, tilt left and take a big stroke on the right. Start dropping into the slot between the concrete and the reactionary foampile that forms between the wave and the concrete (on your left)… Punch through, tilt hard left, and high brace left on the foampile laying back onto the stern to keep from pearling on the water coming off the concrete… Switch the high brace into a left side pry, take another hard stroke on the right, you’re on the wave!

You have to go up far enough that you could touch the concrete with your right hand (but don’t do that!).

By the end of the night, I was able to get on the wave nearly every try(beginning of the night I was 1/3’ish).

You can’t get on by crossing that reactionary foampile between the concrete and the wave (where we normally drop on). You have to go in front of that foampile.

Cheers,

~Rob

(I’d hit the Mill waves tomorrow for sure, if you know how to get there… I’ve got a ride for one person, but I’m coming from Toronto.)

This week, I can for sure sneak out by 3pm Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (In Fergus or Cambridge by 4:30pm). I can also head out in the morning on Tuesday if I’m back at work by 1pm. I’ve got room for one person (+ kayak) leaving from Toronto…
