I assume you are talking about the Jackson Fun series. The Fun series is definitly not an air-specific boat – the rocker profile is designed for all-round paddling and lends itself to both river running and playboating. I can assure you that a huge wave is not necessary for it to plane. I witnessed an almost-helix in one on the little wave in the lake at the Gull last year. The Evo is definitly faster, but probably no better at all-round river running.
