Accrording to a friend who ran it yesterday all the ice is out and it’s flowing high. Be careful of strainers especially just after Hwy407 where the river splits the left branch is completely blocked so go right you can still make the S bend wave by fairying up the eddy at the bottom of the island.

For those that are interested we’re meeting at 11:40am today at the takeout Hwy#5 and the creek (Lions Valley Park Rd) just east of the creek south off Hwy#5.

The put in is at the end of Neyagawa north of the 407 it’s a dead end and you walk past the baricade down to the creek. We checked the left branch where the riversplits after the 407 and it is clear. There are a couple major strainers further down so be very careful the first two can be passed by sticking left and the last one is a left then a right tucking under a fallen tree. Like I said be careful it’s not a difficult river but it has lots of strainers some completely blocking river channels and in the river bends. Plus the water is colddddddd! Have fun, but most of all be safe!

I know this put in…and we saw these river-wide strainers last year, but at much lower flow. Thanks for the heads up…paddling Saturday morning…

Just curious—some of us paddled 16 Mile when it came up in the fall and there was a trashed red compact car river left most of the way down—is it still there??

Yup the car is still in the river we also came upon a white fibre glass canoe crushed in one of the many strainers(which we released)
