Tributary of the Ottawa, in Quebec, across from Deep River. on my map it looks pretty steep for the last few km’s before it dumps into the ottawa. Anyone seen it up close?

i tried to drive there last weekend on some logging roads, but my old 2wd truck got defeated by the first big hill! any info would be great, thanks.

I haven’t run the Schyan for over 20 years but it is a great fast run all the way down to the Ottawa from the dam (we ran it) at the top. The easiest access is probably to paddle across the Ottawa R from Deep River and carry up the bush road which runs near the river left bank. I’m not sure of any access issues that have developed in the past 20+ years!
The wave train/current from the Schyan ran out about 400 m into the Ottawa when we ran it.

any big drops to look out for or is it all boogie water? any idea of the class of rapids….. ie. what other runs could you compare it to? any more info would be great. just wondering if it’s worth the trip! thanks again.

Other than the dam which was just a bit sketch the ride was mostly just a joy-ride with big waves and a couple of ‘deep’ holes: similar to lower no-name at high water. It was ’85 that I last ran it so my info is not exactly up to date.
