Great weekend on the water, even though the water was low it was good to get out in the warm weather and not have to paddle in cold water gear. Back to the Monday morning grind I was checking up some e-mails and had a very interesting one e-mailed to me. I won’t say whom the e-mail came from, but maybe next time post the message on the board so everyone can know who finds what offensive. The following is the email that was sent to me.

Sorry Peterborough crew, but I think that your Avatar is in very bad taste and speaking as a father of four, very disturbing. I realize that it is only a mock up of an abusive situation, but it is offensive none-the-less.[/i:3sh64453]

Now I have been known in the past to have some questionable AVATARS. And I have voluntarily taken them down. But where do we draw the line? At what point do we say enough is enough? Is it possible that there is nothing out there that won’t offend someone? If so please send me the link to the AVATAR so that I can use it. In the time here are a list of things that I find offensive in AVATARS. If you have any of the following in your AVATAR please remove it ASAP.

    1. I don’t like stick figures or fat people.
    2. I can’t stand canoer’s so anyone with single blades in their AVATAR take them off.
    3. I can’t stand hippies.
    4. I can’t stand Barney.
    5. People should be fully clothed, no one in there underwear.
    6. I can’t stand anyone smiling.
    7. I don’t like anything that is colorful.
    8. I don’t like getting wet so nothing with water in it.

Batman and the computer guy were better. The dress color gives me a headache, and you never run straight up from behind on a place kick.

That’s the way it used to be done. Running up from one side only started with the soccer player place kickers.

In a fight, my dancing bear would kick that grandma’s ass.

What about Captain Mitch Buchanon? I’ll stick the captain up against your bear on the water anytime. Granted, the bear has some moves for the dance-off, but this is a boating (ie water) forum. Bumwatch, I mean Baywatch, was a great example of HIGH QUALITY TELEVISION PROGRAMMING. Whoa, look at them run…

Peterborough, I have loved the avatars.

…Yeah, I find it pretty disturbing.

    My 2 cents,

If anyone has a link to an avatar in color that shows a skinny hippie and a fat Barney in underwear paddling a canoe down a river while smiling could you please forward it to me?
I would appreciate it even more if there was a dancing bear in the background on shore…

I don’t mind this one as much as the other jittery batman one… it’s not as hard on the eyes.

I have to say, this one makes me think, in a philosophical way – "why is a blue-haired granny "OWNED!" a baby?" Why is kicking a baby OWNED!? .. It just doesnt make sense.

Not having any kids yet, I’m not sure I know the answer to this one… and it seems that people with kids are offended, so that puzzles me even more.

Regardless, I think broadening your ‘offensive’ strategy is good. Keep changing the icon so you can pacify some, offend others. A fair approach.

Forget that, change the avatar to offend everyone especially [quote:30at5rvp]names that start with the letter G[/quote:30at5rvp]

    I can’t wait for Gonzo’s new avatar.

I want to be offended, but when "OWNED!" flashes I can’t keep in the laughter and I spray my coffee all over the computer. This is obviously funny. I have 2 kids.

"OWNED!" def^ from Wikipedia- "Owned" is an internet slang word used commonly in gaming circles. The word originated from America to acknowledge a form of superiority through the downfall of another entity, be it another gaming clan, or a single user. This can be in the context of winning an online game, a debate on a forum, or attaining a successful hacking, as well as the signature to a rebuttal, such as "You got owned!" to announce the defeat of another user on the internet in the form of a debate or flame war. It signifies screwing up, being humiliated or beaten, often through the dominance or superiority of another party expressing a overpowering sense of skill or an artful use of style in procuring victory.

PS> There was nothing gross about Batman either. He was shaking, then green stuff splattered on Brittney. What happens in between is filled in by your own perverted imagination.
