Some friends and I are going to be up this weekend, and I was wondering if there’s a place we can rent a cabin with a kitchen / hot water / etc.
There are 4 of us.
Doesn’t have to be super nice, just has to be a little more fully featured than camping.
It would be great if it was right on the water.
Does something like this exist, or am I dreaming?September 11, 2007 at 4:12 pm #30378ceilidhkeParticipant
Little Picky Cottage owned by Wilderness Tours is located right at the end of the road at the main put in. Call WT to check it out, it might be exactly what you’re looking for.
A fabulous alternative, 15 minutes away from the put in is a wonderful B&B called [b:1qr22hek]Skyhill.[/b:1qr22hek] It has 4 large rooms with king beds and ensuite bathrooms/showers. There is also a loft with 2 bedrooms and ensuite washroom. It is in a beautifully renovated large log cabin home. The owner, Angela, lives in a separate cabin on the same property. The house has a large living room – big couches and fireplace and dining room. There is also a pool and [u:1qr22hek]hot tub[/u:1qr22hek]! There is nothing "cutesy" about this place – it is stylish, country and clean (not a single ruffle in sight!). The rate for the bedrooms are $75 per night inclusive of breakfast of course ($20 for additional person).
Skyhill has become our second home. Angela is very accommodating to paddlers – she is flexible about check in and breakfast times and lets us hang out gear to dry (under the lengthy side porch which is perfect especially when raining !) What caps things off is that "The Middle of No Where" restaurant is right on the way "home" – it may look like a bit of a dump from the outside, but once inside the decor is great with food to match and excellent prices. Both are incredible "finds"!

and Middle of nowhere!
If Skyhill is booked, try Nangor Resort, next door.
Cabins on the same mile plus long beach that Skyhill backs on to.
these are small family owned businesses with far more charm than anything else around the river.

We operate a 2 bedroom guest house right on the Ottawa River.
Here’s our website: http://www.pioneerpointguesthouse.com
We’re located between McCoy’s and the Lorne rapids on the Ottawa (first and second rapid). You can also paddle the Middle channel all from the front lawn. I think it’s the best location on the Ottawa. You can paddle to McCoy’s or the Lorne and then paddle back to the house.
There’s a fully equipted kitchen, bathroom with shower and heat for spring and fall. Bedding and towels provided. (Even high speed wireless internet)
We’re open May – end of October.
Email from the website with dates for availability.
Cheers and see you out on the water,

I have seen what Cindy’s place is like, I got a tour after she gave me a ride back to the put in……..and I would check out what she has for rent. The place is fantastic and the people couldn’t be nicer. Oh ya and the location, on Garb and a 1 minute paddle to pushbutton…..does it get any better, I know where we are staying the next time were up.
Thanks again Cindy for the lift…..
