Brrr, coldest paddle ever at -4 with a northern wind chill of -10, couldn’t even get my vest unzipped to get my car keys after the paddle. I had to ask a nice and pretty lady jogger to get it open… On the other hand my 2006 Level Six Mack drytop and my NRS mits kept me nice and toatsty, for over an hour and a half, even after two practice rolls at the beginning. The water level has risen yet again, peaking at 3.8 and there’s a rope in the eddy to pull yourself up but you can also paddle up. The second wave is getting really big (had a wild side surf on it… but did not live up to my nickname, and as Martha Stewart would say "that’s a good thing!") and the shoulder is really nice for extended front surfs. First wave has lost its’ pocket but you can still surf it even in a short boat, with good technique and lots of forward lean… I’m going back tomorrow at around 2pm if anyone cares to join me.
