I think that we are extending a “grace period” for folks that put their for sale ads on the general forum. I generally try to contact them and get them to move it to the classifieds. If they don’t, I move it and delete it from the board.

We seperated the Classifieds primarily because of the “dude, your asking way too much for that boat” posts. They were irritating and unnecessary. Conversations should be between the seller and the potential buyer. It also requires someone to register to sell something.

It sounds like people are asking for an “Off Topic” forum. Is that right?

pretty much, a forum where some not boater issues could get discussed. Also Ithink an equiptment or gear forum would be benificial. There aernt man yreviews on boats out there and it could be a palce for people to get opinions on gear.

Sorry about that. This was supposed to be a reply to Bobbie’s “Great idea….” thread. I would move it, but don’t want to lose Justin’s reply.

    Thom,

your being too nice. People are taking advantage of the boaterboard. If someone posts a classified on the boaterboard, instead of where it should go (the classified section), you should delete it as soon as you see it.

Even if someone is new, it’s pretty easy to figure out that the classifieds are seperate.

you could delete the message first, and then explain why you did so to the person in a PM.

    cheers,

    Yoni
