I’ve finally replaced my delaminating Bomber Gear top with a new (and hopefully much longer lasting) IR dry-top.

I’m going to try to convert the Bomber Gear top into a splash top for early summer and early fall paddling.

Has anybody done this before? My thinking is that I want to make sure there are good places for the water that gets in to get out. The gaskets are still in great shape, so I’m going to keep them, but I’ll probably cut out the delaminating inner shirt. When I was using it as it started to get leaky I was really frustrated that the water that got in through the leaky dry-top dripped down into my dry-pants or boat. I’m thinking I should maybe add some extra holes near the bottom to let water out, besides just cutting the inner shirt?

    Any thoughts much appreciated.
