Headin out white water for the first time after 10 or so pool lessons
headin to the champlain bridge in ottawa, any tips?

dont bring goggles.. you will be beat up! <img loading=” title=”Very Happy” />

go with a friend if youre a first timer, you will flip! i guarantee it!

warm up, practise youre strokes, do some hip flicks and T resques in the eddie, then make sure you try a roll or 2, it is way diff than a pool.

since this is youre first time on WW, i would suggest a buddy who can teach ya, or taking a course ( <img loading=” title=”Razz” />
or ask one of the kayak bums at the wall for some tips. (just hope you dont get a joker) or you will be told to *remember to lean upstream!* lmao
(kidding im sure no one would do that…)

there is a lot to know, anyone can paddle, the question is, can you paddle properly, and that is something you need to learn. proper technique can keep you safe, make you faster, improve youre ability to paddle as well as your enjoyment! think of taking a couse as an investment, just like buying a boat is!
