Damn that was short! They put logs back in at the Gull. It is runnable, but very low. No play at Earls. I don’t have a clue what’s going on.

Ugh, we were planning on going for the day sunday. when you say its runnable, is that top of the dam down, like what level is it actually at (hopefully not below the gauge). just trying to figure out the plans! thanks a lot

they dropped another log in the 12 mile dam also… the lakes above the gull dropped nearly 6-8 inches over the course of the past 2 days. So I am guessing that’s the reason for them shutting it down again. Sucks, the river was SWEET last night.

so it can be run dam down, or..? i’ll be in the area kinda sunday morning and am now wondering whether it’ll be worth it, is it still half decent for river running?

I was there at around 5 pm. It appears to be recovering a bit but still quite low.

    I guess it’s around 8ish cms.

Yes you can run the whole thing. There will be some bumping but nothing to severe.

Lots of rain happening, fingers crossed.

Great thanks gary, I think I’ll still head over on sunday just to get some paddling in regardless of the level, though maybe this rain (and a dam release????) would certianly make the day that much better

    Tyler,
It is runnable from the dam all the way down at this level. Lines get a bit thin and more techinical, but that can be fun. Just be sure that you head left when running the falls (always the cleanest line)

When do you think we can expect consistent levels from the gull?

Normally, once the July long weekend gets here, and they start using the Trent lock system, the Gull gets "turned on" for the summer. It’s not uncommon that June is a low-water month on the Gull.
