We are paddling, Bob Foote is currently running a course on the river and the weekend was very busy with boaters.
Ya it’s low, it usually is lowish around this part of the summer.
Copying that e-mail which is essentially hear-say, suggesting water managers screwed up is pretty presumptious. It does nothing to help get co-operation from them and probably would encourage further withholding of water if that option exists. Think about it, if someone was publically suggesting you had done your job wrong all winter long would you be in the mood to make things better for them?
Colin I for one think your posting this kind of thing will do no good. Your probably hurting the race outcome and doing nothing toward securing co-operation from TSW or increasing the likelyhood of water anytime soon.
Folks at WO and Boatwerks have been trying to keep a relationship with TSW that is beneficial. They (TSW) are under immense pressure from all types of water users. They have limited time to devote to small interests like paddlers. So it would be best if we didn’t antagonize them with this sort of stuff.
I read with interest the e-mail you posted and on second reading would describe it as completely filled with ignorance and false information.
The Gull was really low a month or so ago, it has recovered, the lakes are at usual levels, some are actually high now and the Trent season is about to go into full swing. We’ll have water very soon, our season will be much like any other. We could use rain but it is not anywhere near as desparate or dire as this e-mail makes it sound.
