I wish to go kayaking in the Jasper area next Saturday (July 22).
Anyone know someone or a company that would take me down the Fraser or other river in the Jasper area.
Every company I call just wants to put me in a raft.
Not planning on taking my boat, would rent/borrow?
I’m comfortable on the Ottawa river and a good paddler.

You might want to try contacting a local paddling club. I think there is a club in Hinton or the U of A paddling society.

    Check out
It is run by a couple of Jasper locals. There is lots of great info and I believe there is contact info too.

I live in Edmonton and am probably going to paddle the Brierlies on the North Saskatchewan at Rocky Mountain House this Saturday. It’s the closest park-and-play spot to Edmonton and I can give you a ride if that’s where you’re based. You may still be able to rent a boat from MEC in Edmonton if you need one. Sunday I’m either paddling the Mistaya or heading to the Kananaskis to do some stupid-cold-squirting. We haven’t had much rain this summer so you’ll have to stick to dam release or glacier-fed rivers if you want any fun.

Practically every paddler in Edmonton will be in Jasper on the August long weekend so if you’re stuck on doing the Fraser then don’t expect anyone other than local Jasper folks in that area.
