    Hey,

Last year I purchased a used Wavesport Forplay and paddled in Minden a few times to see if I would like the sport.

I had a blast !!!!!! but think the boat I purchased is to small for a 6ft 205lb novice paddler (live & learn)

I have recently relocated to the Haliburton area and plan to paddle more

does anyone have any sujjestions for a novice big guy??? I would like to buy used if possible.

Jackson all star, and th WS Project 52 if ur into playboats. If u want a river running playboat then the Jackson 4Fun, CR 250 or the Dagger RX are great choices. I’d go with the CR – great all round boat with awsome play characteristics.

Demo the boats B4 u buy them! – or at least sit in them!

Give me a shout if u want more info bout a particular boat. (review)

A Jackson Boat would be a great boat to try, however I think the Jackson Super Star would be a more suitable playboat for you if you are 205lbs.

The All-Star optimum weight range goes 140-170lbs. Stephen Wright paddles it and is 145lbs. I think you would have problems with both volume and leg-room if you went for the All-Star.

Demo a Super-Star instead, or if you want a riverrunner-playboat, the Fun series is great, I would try both the 4Fun (optimum weight=160-200lbs, inseam=36″) and the Super-Fun (optimum weight=200-240lbs, inseam 38″).

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Scott,
The specs for all the Jackson boats are on the website. On the main page each boat is listed down the right hand side. Click on a boat and you’ll see pics, writeups and specs (volume, size, weight, optimum weight for riverrunning, and playboating, inseam etc)
    Good luck!

I’m 5 10, 205#. Spent the last three years in a Super Ego ( a river running play boat) while I learned to paddle and where I was headed. I’ve moved on now and have it for sale, 500$
