freakyflow’s post of the old Ottawa River video reminded me of something I have been seraching for. Has anyone seen a video by Paul Marshall called “Niagara: Scary Fun” from the late 80s? Apparently it is a video of some boaters running the Niagara gorge… I don’t know what section but it may be the Whirlpool rapids.
Back around then I remember watching what was supposed to be the first descent of the Niagra Gorge. It was footage of squirt boaters and open boaters in giant Whitesell open boats going down what I assume to be the rapids above the whirlpool — although I’m not sure on that. It was pretty massive water! The open boaters were getting hammered — three or four seconds of downtime, etc. There was a component of the vid where they discussed the difficulties in getting access to the water. They had to get permits to carry in, but needed none to run the actual gorge.
It was a great film but I haven’t heard of it since. I watched the Rocky Rossi squirt boat film “Fun Forever” the same night. This was the summer of ’87 or ’88.
