Trying to get information on the Opeongo River. We’ve never run it and wonder about class, creeky/pool drop, amount of flatwater, where the put in and take outs are, length of river /shuttle and if there is a McDonald’s on the way. And is anyone running it or interested on running it on Sunday. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The run begins with about 5 or 6 km of flat water. Starting at Shall lake in Algonquin Park. Once you hit the whitewater it’s pretty much non stop for about 12 km. No big drops, but lots of wave trains. When we were there 2 weeks ago there were no trees across, but some sweepers along the banks. The take out is off of Alleyn Road (east of Madawaska). The shuttle is 90 km one way.

Sorry. The shuttle is 45 km from put in to take out. 90 is if you’re going to the take out and back.
