I am going to be in downtown Ottawa next week for work. Are there any evening after-work playspots that are in now? From what I can tell, more water is needed, but I wanted to check. I don’t have enough time to drive up to Beachburg, but was looking for something close. If there are some possibilities, where could I demo/rent a boat.

    Thanks,
    Brian

looking like right now the options are Lower JJ’s or Dessert wave at Remics. check out http://cityofottawawhitewater.blogspot.com/ for more info, great website. Britanna gauge is sitting at about 2.65 at the moment.

The two playspots listed above are both in right now and are pretty much the only game in town at the moment. As for renting boats, Paddleshack, and MEC (on Richmond rd) and Trailhead (can’t remember the street but on your way to Champlain from MEC area I think the corner of Scott and something) rent boats although not sure what the selection will be like since they have all been selling their demo boats.

    Cheers,

I usually see people there after work but it is hit or miss. If you’re thinking about Tuesday give me an email and I’ll head out. I also went by Deschenes today and Lower JJs and one more playspot are in and looking good.

TrailHead is located on Scott street, really close to the Westboro Bus station

would anybody in this thread be interested in paddling Thursday afternoon / after work? I’m in Ottawa for two weeks, and don’t really know the playspots, but would be happy meeting someone anywhere.

If anyone’s been out to deschenes lately, how is it? The last time I was out it was a little higher so just wondering if it gets better as the level drops or whether higher is better?

    Cheers
