do visiting boaters from outside of Canada need any permits, licenses and any other legal crap to “legally” paddle rivers in Ontario?

Non residents need permits only for camping on crown land, the paddling is free. Canadian’s can camp on crown land for free. Permits are required in some parks for everyone.

What about permits for non-residents camping on crown land with residents/citizens.<img loading=” title=”Confused” /> Do I need a permit or is it okay as long as my wife is there? (she’s the canadian)

If your doing a trip your outfitter should be able to help with permits. If you and your wife are camping some where on your own, I don’t think it’s really a big issue. We don’t really have the budget for enforcement officers in this country.

technically, yes. Functionally no… not legal advice obviously

Of course, like everything, this depends on context.
Why don’t you give some more details, and we can provide you with a more relevent answer….

Where and when are you planning your trip. Are you using a guide or outitter (if so, crown land permits are waived)? How long are you planning to stay? what is the primary nature of your activity? Any fishing or hunting?
