Can anyone tell me how the French River is to paddle?
Particularly the section from Lake Nippissing west to Hwy 69.
Is this a trip for beginners, the experts, or the insane? Or is it worth doing?

    Thnx in advance.

yeah its a pretya good paddle. i would suggest going while leveles are still higher than waiting till later, still good but some featurs would be much better in higher water. were you thinking of just runnig the upper part till you hit the highy way or going all the way till the bay?

Frankly, check Kevin Callan’s "Rivers of Ontario and Quebec". You may also want to try a post on the Canadian Canoe Routes site. Good luck.

Yeah, check myccr.com. The river’s not super-hairy from a WW perspective at low levels. I paddled it in September, water was warm, no bugs, no people! Was a nice trip. I’d say CII mostly, maybe CIII if you’re a hardcore flatwater guy! <img loading=” title=”Wink” />

Not sure what the levels are like at higher water.

There is a primo park and play spot on the North channel at most levels. I heard the run is pretty tame with the exception of the Chaudiere dam section at high water.
