    Go with Yakima.

If you have factory crossbars, you can probably get MIGHTYMOUNTS which replace Yakima crossbars; and save you roughly $300.00. Then, for the Kayak, you should get the KAYAK STACKER. Easily the easiest, and most efficent way of transporting kayaks.

I work at an outdoors store, so let me know if you have factory racks on your car (you’ll have to tell me what year and type of car you have), then I’ll check things out for you.

    Cheers,

    Dave

my Canadian Tire Sport Rack and stacker has been awesome, 70 bucks for the racks, 40 for the stacker, then i also have the sport rack Parhona bike rack, its a great set up , not a problem with it, price was right

In that case, go with mmm_puddin and hit Canadian Tire for some Sport Rack crossbars. And someone just posted a Thule kayak Stacker on the classifieds…Jump on it!

I too have the set from Crappy tire and am more than happy with the set up. They are completely tranferrable to most cars and small suv’s and the best part is… they are cheap.

Depending on how mant boats you are transporting you can just strap them down to the rack directly (see http://www.jacksonkayak.com/store/produ … hockstraps). I get better gas mileage this way.

I am a fan of the Yakima set up, works for my whitewater and seakayaks. The stacker is great, also the hullraiser, hully rollers/mako saddles, etc… and with mighty mounts, they may work with the canadian tire rack.

I don’t have a yakima bike holder, but use a Saris 3 bike holder on the back of the vehicle, works well with most makes and models. I’ve had it 10+ years and it has fit every thing from a minivan, explorer, saturn, mustang, new beetle, expedition, scion, freestyle, grand prix, sunfire, thunderbird, jetta, civic, golf…..these are just the vehicles I’ve used it on, haven’t tried it on the F150 yet. The rack was only about $95.00 USD back when I bought it, and I haven’t found a vehicle it won’t work on.

They still make the Saris Bones rack for bikes, but now it’s $159.99
