Great to see all the new flatwater boats out on the lakes and on top of cars. Just a heads up that a great investment is a short – 1 or 2 hour – lesson. I have been doing a few lately and have found that folks get on a steeper learning curve and enjoy their boats more.

We have been focusing on a couple of key things:

[b:25cbvaij]Strokes[/b:25cbvaij]: how to paddle using the big muscles in your torso, not just your shoulders and biceps. A few easy-to-learn tips can help you develop a stronger, smoother stroke.

[b:25cbvaij]Safety[/b:25cbvaij]: some very basic safety skills, including what to do if you end up in the water. It is far easier to get back into a flatwater boat than most people think.

If your interested, contact either the Haliburton or Minden stores and arrange a lesson.
