    Hi,

I know its not really paddling related but wondering what Sir Sams ski area is like?

It looks like they actually have some snow.
Is it worth the trip from TO?

    Cheers,
    Ian

IMO, if you’ve been to Dagmar and Lakeridge, I’d say it’s similar to them in length and size, but maybe a bit steeper.

If Sir Sams has snow and if you really need to get out then its good enough. Its steeper and longer than most other S.Ontario areas. That being said, its still only steeper than a golf course. Lakeridge will be open on Boxing Day but it will be less than fantastic.
Hope Santa brings you some p-tex tomorrow as you will need it after a day at Sir Sams.

    Cheers for the info.
I’ll give it another day or two and see if conditions improve <img loading=” title=”Sad” />

Hey Rich, lets hear this magical list of yours. Feel free to rate the hills from best to worst just for fun.

Hill rating, Osler, Alpine, Craigleith, Blue, MSLM, Mansfield, Peaks,…. Sir Sams, snow valley and horseshoe.

So we have 7 there above sir sams.. all more verticle, have steaper runs and more terrain. Dont get me wrong I love sir sams, its close USUALLY has good snow but it has no hope of comparing to something like Osler.

Thats a great list unfortunately the best ones are private resorts, are they not?
    Thanks for the insight.

Your post had NOTHING to do with being private or not, you simply stated that sir sams has the highest and steepest terrain in ontario… I am just showing you that you are TERRIBLY TERRIBLY WRONG!!!!!!! Regardless if some of the better resports are private or not there are still many that are a hell of a lot better then Sir Sams!

Easy Rich. You must have misinterpreted my post. Don’t be putting words in my mouth. I said nothing of Sir Sams having the highest vertical and steepest terrain in Ontario. Sir Sams is better than most areas in S. Ontario. Ski Loch Lomond in Thunder Bay if you want great Ontario terrain. And its public.
