Right after posting that the river was up… I grabbed my gear and boat and headed over for a paddle on the Gull. The level was 8.17 which correlates to 15.1CMS. Earls was pretty sweet at this level once again. It must have changed over the winter again for the better…It seemed easier to stay in and front surf with less of a green tongue to flush you out.
The rest of the river was excellent with a nice wave-train at the bottom.
Funny story: I showed up at the river with my gear and only had a shorty with a long sleeved rashguard…I was so psyched to have water again that I cut the sleeves off of it so it would fit under my top… the shredded rash guard sleeves were my homage to the river gods for giving us rain!
The water is warm and flowing nicely, come-on up and get out there!
Earls is the hole in my pic. its a fun one. the river is awesome to run. really pushy creeky class 3+ ish. 8.2-8.3 is pretty much your best level for earls. and the higher it get the more fun running becomes.
If folks are paddling the Gull on Monday night, I’m in Richmond Hill and would love to share some gas money for the drive up …my car or yours? I work in a high school in Etobicoke and can leave 1minut after the bell at 3:06. Any interest?
