I know that folks are wanting to get out, so I updated the runs that have shown significant movement since Friday: Beaver, Black, Oxtongue, Skootamata, Washago Black.
Oxtongue: Ice conditions unknown. My guess is that the section below the snowmobile bridge is OK since it has virtually no flatwater.
Hwy 7 runs (Black, Beaver, Skoot): almost certainly frozen over on the flats. I have paddle the Beaver when the flats are frozen and “fun” is not a word that I would use to describe the experience (unless you count watching Mike Yee fall through the ice several times while pushing an Ocoee )
Washago Black: Ice unknown, but I would guess that it is frozen over in several places.
Thessalon, man. I’m sure you know it’s the metropolis of Huron’s north shore, and one which stinky ESPNolites have nothing on! Driving past the Black on our way yesterday, we found nothing but ice, hopefully the forecasted rain will rot out the ice by the end of the week and we can get out on the weekend.
