    Hey,

Im heading to the Ottawa for the summer. Hopefully planning on getting some sort of job and get some paddling done over the summer. I’ve applied to one or two of the raft companies so far, but havnt heard much yet. Anyone have any suggestions where else would be good to look for jobs? Im a 20 year old female(if that makes any difference!), would love to work near the river, but failing that, would do bar/restaurant/pretty much any sort of work!

Ive tried looking up the local papers online but not having much luck as yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

I personally would rather work in a restuarant or bar in the evenings. I’m 19 and have looked into the raft guiding scene on the Ottawa and it doesnt make you much. It’d probably be a lot of fun, but you wouldnt make much money. Waitressing or bartending at one of the rafting resorts would probably get you more money and you’d have all during the day to paddle.

Cool thanks for the advice. Ive been trying to find restaurants in the area from the net, but not finding much. Anyone know of a few in the area worth looking for a job in? Or even better, anyone working in the area know of places hiring for the summer?? Open to any suggestions(within reason of course <img loading=” title=”Very Happy” />)
Sorry if im being a pain in the ass with all the questions!!

Hey go try out River Run, I went through there some time ago and ended up staying to work. If you boat, and are good you can usually pull in as a saftey boater, and slide into a guide. If you camp there you’ll get work. Also some rafting companies are only starting to hire around this time. Give them another call.

If you are looking to work in a bar or restaurant, then check out wilderness tours. River Run is great for rafting, but not much other work. You can paddle in the day, and work in the evening at Wilderness Tours. Check out the webpage at http://www.wildernesstours.com, and Contact Charles Tong. My suggestion would be to call them and be persistant. If you paddle, you have a good head start! Good luck!
